The department is having an OPD, which is open on all week days and it also has an INDOOR setup with 20 (Twenty) beds for Male and 20 beds for Female patients and various rooms for procedures like ECT, Biofeedback and Counseling. The department also has an audio-visually equipped seminar room and Departmental library with more than 450 books. The department also has adequate rooms for all the faculty members and on-duty doctors.
The department is also providing various clinical services like OPD, indoor, emergency, counseling, Disability evaluation and certification, psychometric testing, behaviour and relaxation therapy, Medico-legal services. Various Community services and awareness programs are carried out by the department at regular intervals in various remote areas and various activities related to the National Mental Health Programs (NMHP) are also carried out by the Department. OST services to the opioid dependant patients are also provided by the department. The Department also runs special clinics (Geriatric, Child & Adolescent, Disability clinics, Addiction medicine, Medico-legal, consultation-liaison). There is special arrangement for providing preferential services to the geriatric patients in the department.
Since it is a Post-graduate department and MD courses are recognized by the NMC, Post Graduate Trainee (PGT) intake is 5 in the MD course per year. There is one Professor, two Associate professors, three Assistant professors (out of which 1 post is lying vacant), one Registrar, one Resident physician and one Clinical Psychologist posted in the department. Seminar, journal, case report and case presentations are done by PG students regularly. Micro-teaching, theory class, bedside clinics and Case discussions are done by faculty members regularly. Faculties and PG students are carrying out various research activities in the department and they are published in various National and International Journals regularly. Also CME, workshops and conferences are organized by the Department at periodic intervals.
