The Department of Anatomy, Silchar Medical College is situated on the northern part of the college and Hospital building in a beautiful area on the low hilltop. It is completely a separate building having divided in to two parts by a approach road to proposed newly cancer hospital. The department is surrounding by Krishnachura(a plant flown red colour flower during summer) which keeps the building cool and shady.

The department has a spacious well ventilated Dissection hall having carpet area 400 Sq.m. with all modern amenities and attached to mortuary cabinet and embalming area with three 2 X 3= 6 Sq.m tank.

A Museum of 155 numbers of mounted specimens, more 300 numbers of model including 10 numbers of prominent Scientist statue and 12 numbers of skeleton specimens.

The main Highlight of the department of Anatomy is having facility for registration of donating bodies. Anatomy department has a wing for receiving the donated body. The department always participated in body donation camp and awareness programme organized by Gon Bigyan Sanstha, Silchar time to time and encourage the people of Barak Valley. Department of Anatomy is successful in this kind of awareness and the Students are also benefited.

The Department of Anatomy has number of experienced and dedicated teachers which make the highest percentage of successful result with distinct and Honours.

Department of Anatomy is an ornament of Silchar Medical College & Hospital.
